As a photographer, I have the wonderful privilege of meeting absolutely amazing families every day and being a part of their most important memories.
I think my favorite part of the experience is watching a new mom cry as she sees her baby’s portraits for the first time. Those happy tears show that every sleepless night and dirty diaper is worth it,
all to have these memories of your family forever documented.
And I love that.
I know first-hand how wonderfully precious these fleeting moments are, and especially how fast the time flies by. It seems like just yesterday we were holding our son in our arms for the very first time, and now he is in 7th grade. When it comes down to it, photography is all about enjoying the love of family and somehow cherishing those moments for a little while longer.
A few things about yours truly
- I was born in Orlando, FL and Micah was born in Bethel, AK
- Reading is my favorite pastime
- Rock climbing helped conquer my fear of heights
- I married my only sweetheart (he's kind of amazing)
- I'm addicted to cooking shows and The Amazing Race
- Both my hubby and I were homeschooled, and now our kids are, too
- I've taught Sunday School for over 20 years
- We're a huge gaming family (both board games & video games)
- I eat cheese with my popcorn but it must be extra sharp cheddar
- We visit my family in TN every winter for grandparent & cousin time
My husband, Micah, known to our friends as Mr. Camera Happy, was actually the one who introduced me to my first "real" camera at sixteen years old. Now, almost two decades later, we just built our maybe-forever home in Wasilla, Alaska and have three kids, a dog & cat, our dream careers, a life full of adventure and a home full of love.
Our children are our joys and we are constantly inspired by each new milestone and discovery. Caleb, the oldest, is a new teenager who loves LEGOS & corny jokes (as do I!). Samantha, adores her big brother and loves being a big sister herself. She'll go rock climbing while wearing a tiara and is so very cool! And little Clara is my sunshine. I love her pigtails, her dimples, and her imagination. And she gives the very best hugs.

We've scouted across south-central Alaska to find the perfect locations for sessions, from a field of fireweed to epic mountains to a sunset on the ocean.
MET MY FUTURE HUSBAND
And he was obsessed with cameras and I was obsessed with him, so...
BOUGHT MY FIRST PRO CAMERA
And took a Film Photography Class at UAA. That time in the darkroom led to both an appreciation for Photoshop as well as an understanding of the mechanics of photography.
PHOTOGRAPHING FOR FRIENDS & FAMILY
I fell in love with the creative side of photography and practiced my growing craft on anyone who would let me
OUR SON WAS BORN & SO WAS M. PHOTOGRAPHY
When we found out that we were expecting our first child, I naturally fell in love with all things motherhood & baby. We set up a DIY studio in our dining room and I took my first newborn pictures. And with that, I was hooked. I knew that I loved photography and wanted to make it my career.
REBRANDED AS MEGAN MARLENE PHOTOGRAPHY
As I continued to build this business I had come to love, I rebranded and focused on newborn, family, and motherhood.
OPENED MY FIRST STUDIO
My first studio was located in West Anchorage and was a fun, funky spot in an art & music building. I went full-time with photography and trained & mentored with some of the leading artists in the industry.

MOVED STUDIOS & PHOTOGRAPHING EVEN MORE BABIES
I moved from West to East Anchorage into a beautiful studio space with such lovely light. I've photographed over 1100 sessions, 325+ babies, and have met so many incredible people. It is such an honor to document these memories and be entrusted with their most important moments. I absolutely love what I do and am so very thankful for this art form and for all my clients & families.
