How is it that I can visit a place a hundred times and still find it beautiful? Still find something new and exciting and wondrous?
This is Flattop Mtn, which is arguably one of the Top 3 most popular session spots here in Anchorage, for me and any other photographer. Every time I visit, I see someone else shooting away and there’s always that delicate dance to see if we’re headed towards the same spots and need to shift locations. Thankfully, you really can’t go wrong here- it’s just that pretty- and offers so much variety.
Each time we have a session here, I try to step a little more outside of my comfort zone. Go a little farther down that path, turn a different way to shoot a new angle, embrace the moody clouds or the warm sunshine. And each time, I love the pictures even more.
We might fight for parking during peak times, we might have to tiptoe around the blueberries, we might have to run from a moose, we might need to be a little flexible, a little spontaneous, a little wild. But we will get amazing pictures 100% of the time.
