Those overcast, moody summer evenings are a bane and a blessing. On one hand, they shoot my anxiety through the roof as we wonder, “Will it rain in the next two hours?”

On the other hand, we get ALL the pretty diffused light! And for gorgeous scenic locations like Flattop, it means we can shoot towards the mountains without the bright midnight sun shining in our faces. We may not be able to view the distant mountains due to cloud coverage, but as far as the eye can see, it’s nothing but beautiful.

I’ve been photographing this family for many, many years, ever since big sis was a twinkle in Mama’s eye. It’s such a joy to watch the girls grow each year and each session gets better and better as they know exactly what to expect, how to put together great outfits, what poses suit their bodies best (aka which one is their “good side!”), feel so relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, and all the dozens of tiny details that go into making a session extra wonderful. P.S.- Meet their sweet pup, Molly! She’s getting on up there in age, so they really wanted to make her a special part of their memories. And she was smiling from ear-to-ear, too!
