Our summers are known for two things: the midnight sun and days that we wish were sunny. Is it just me, or has it been a super wet & rainy summer? According to the weather station, we’ve had warmer than average temps, but more rain than normal, all of which occurred on days I had photography sessions scheduled.

So it’s been a lot of back-and-forth, checking forecasts, getting rained out, rescheduling, and rescheduling the rescheduled dates yet again. Sometimes we get lucky and it’s beautiful for the whole session. And we’re having so much fun that we don’t even notice the dark clouds gathering in the background until we’re back at the cars and finally notice the incoming storm that we just barely managed to beat and thank our lucky stars.

Of course, when looking at this picture, that rainstorm just fades away because little miss Brooke is all sunshine and giggles- no dark clouds allowed!

This family photography session took place at my Palmer Field, which is full of gorgeous fireweed in the summertime. It’s one of the largest natural fields I’ve come across and the best one when it comes to accessibility, due to its convenient location and quick, easy walk. These fireweed sessions have become one of my favorite parts of summertime and I love documenting these beautiful family moments in such a beautiful location.
